Fonda, NY – The celebration of the Fourth of July Holiday weekend continues at the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway on Saturday, July 6 with all regular divisions in action along with the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDMS). The make-up features from May 25 will also be run for the Amsterdam Truck Center Modifieds and the Montgomery County Office for Aging Inc. Limited Sportsman.
The other regular divisions in action on Saturday besides the two mentioned above will be the Swagger Factory Apparel Crate 602 Sportsman, the Leatherstocking Credit Union Pro Stocks, and the Fonda Fair Fourt Cylinders.
Starting the day off will be the 2024 Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame Induction ceremonies which will be held starting at 2:00 p.m. at the Fonda Speedway Hall of Fame & Museum. Inductees for 2024 include Jeff Trombley, Steve Burega, Tim Healey, Denny & Debbie Tilison, and Jim Ellis. Royce Gage and Michael Jackson will also be awarded the Bruce Dostal Dedication to the Fonda Speedway Museum awards at the induction ceremony.
Back at the track itself a Meet & Greet will be held on the track in front of the grandstands after hot laps are completed. The Fonda Speedway Kid’s Club will be holding a “Freeze Pop Night” at their location under the grandstands at gate two so kids go and get your freeze pops to enjoy during the racing program.
The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series (MVVDMS) will be holding a special event as well as they celebrate and honor the “World’s Biggest Race Fan” Don Gras with the running of the Don Gras Memorial event.
“We are honored to keep the tradition going for this amazing icon of our sport, which just goes to show you the value of not having to be a driver, but a committed fan that brings so much value in life to many people that shares the love of Stock Car Racing,” posted on the MVVDMS Facebook page this past week. “Don was able to touch so many lives with his kindness to everyone he encountered with. Don's value carries on with his family and friends that cherished and loved this great man of our sport.”
If you are a race fan that gets to the track early, be sure to check out the Fonda Speedway Museum & Hall of Fame which is located on the Fonda Fairgrounds at the rear of the parking area going down towards turn four. The museum is open from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on race days and admission is free!
All races at Fonda Speedway – will be broadcast live on FloRacing (www.floracing.tv) as part of the $150 annual subscription.
Since 1953, the “Track of Champions” Fonda Speedway has hosted the best in stock car racing. Under the management of BD Motorsports Media LLC, the speedway will operate weekly on Saturday nights from April through August plus several special events.
